Protective Style: Twist Extensions

As I conclude my 3rd week of rocking my twist extensions, I am still in love! I do miss my fro a little, but the limitless styling options and ability to roll out of bed (and in bed) and look fabulous is making these a definite staple in my style arsenal. I find myself combing braid blog and vlogs relentlessly looking for my next braided/twisted do. I will give these twists 3 more weeks and plan on giving my hair a two week break before my next extension extravaganza. That will give me time to narrow down my next style (Yarn Braids, Twist, Box Braids, OH MY!).

Enjoy these lovely braided styles and Have an Awesome Weekend!

Twists and Turns

If you follow my other blog, The Dryer Diaries, you are filled in on my cosmo school hair cutting fiasco> I was doubting myself something tough and just felt poopy. Well, I turned that frown upside down, spent some money on hair products and decided to get to styling. Still not perfect, but I will take it! :)

Fall/Winter Make Up Trend: "Nude Attitude"

As I comb the fashion/make-up blogosphere for hot Fall/Winter trends, I've come across tons of barely there looks popping up everywhere! This will be a very different approach for a girl like me who loves wearing big bright pops of color (being that I was so afraid to step out of my neutral make-up box for many many years).

Make Up artists from Our Vanity recommend a few key items to complete this faces with flair:

1) Foundation that matches the skin very well (not too heavy handed ladies)
2) Light blush on the apples of the cheeks
3) Mascara to make eye lashes pop
4) Soft nude lipstick/gloss to polish the look

Winter Protective Hair Style "Box Braids"

As I type this, I am deciding on how many bags of hair I am going to need to purchase at the beauty supply today! I am loving this retro look of single braids. This takes me back to old school 90's R&B groups like Jade and movies like Poetic Justice.

Pictured here, Solange Knowles is giving life to this retro style and I'm ready to live again! I haven't rocked this style since I was a freshmen in highschool (and I won't dare say when that was).

With the winter months upon us, I think I will revisit this style for a few months for a much needed hair hibernation.

Braidout Results

Even though I was running extremely late for work, I couldn't help but snap a few shots of my hair today. This is an  old braidout and I am impressed with the softness and bigness of this fro!  The products I used and how I used them are below:

I used the Deep Treatment Masque as a styler on wet hair. After I detangled and sectioned I smoothed a dime size amount on each section concentrating on the ends.

After unraveling my braids I sprayed this Moisture Mist all over. I don't mind frizz and go for the undefined fro look.

After a good spritz, I took a dime size of the smoothie ( little goes a long way) and smoothed this through hair. Voila! Soft fluffy hair!

Look at them Honey Bunz!

The top knot, or high bun, is everything to me this season! Not only does it keep hair out of your face, but it adds a simple touch of class to any look. You can also funk it up and make it a little messy for a more casual look. Either way you can't go wrong. Here are some of my favs:

Check me out below, getting into the bun action with a faux bun created with Marley Braid Hair. Check out MsVCharles on YouTube for the deets on how to achieve this look!
